Marsh Mallow

June 28th, 2011 · No Comments · Medicinal Plants Poetry Project

mortification root, schloss tea, cheeses
rising out of the salt marsh

our heads are stones in torch
light squeezes through pores

in the air is breathable liquid salt-
tanged cold sweat the

giant ear flits onto a stalk
stealth-shaped sentient dust.

for gravels bruises urinary infections
bronchitis whooping-cough

as everything that seeps out this
sodden land it stands against

grey mudflats sliding into sea.
this is memory. this is sensation.
