Globe Artichoke

June 19th, 2011 · No Comments · Medicinal Plants Poetry Project

Nineteen eighty-three
(post-pizza
pre-sushi).

She had to teach
me how to eat:
dipping scales
in olive oil;
flesh stripped
between teeth.

We undressed
the hairy choke –
getting to the heart
beneath.

This all happened
(more or less)
along with
Chardonnay
and sex.
